Special thanks to Linda, Lisa, and my grandson, Josh for all the help with decorating......Josh for working the door, John for keeping the music and fun going all night.......the clean up crew - Lisa, Linda, Paul, Shay, Darlene, and Kevin (we would have been there until the wee hours of the morning without your help!) and of course, to all the dancers who came out to share in the Halloween fun....it was definitely a Spooktacular night!!
Lisa had set up the coolest, spooky Halloween picture corner and was busy with her camera taking pics to send to everyone .....a little souvenir. A BIG thanks to her for volunteering her time and creative talents for this.
We danced our favorite Steppin' Out dances to Thriller, Monster Mash, Freakazoid, Witchcraft and more....didn't that make you think?!
We had a break at 8:30PM for a special performance by the Sweet & Sassy Dance team from the Villages.....they performed to the song "Black Cat" by Janet Jackson and had chairs, gloves, hats and masks..... a special thanks to all of them for coming and giving us a treat.
Line Dance Bingo was the game for the night and the winner was from Christine's dance team. The costume contest had to be a tough one for the judges, there were so many great costumes! They soon had chosen their favorites - Spookiest Costume to the Pumpkin Head - that was Jim, but we didn't know for awhile. The most original award went to Jennifer Pohlers who was dressed as an old time slutty barmaid and she talked the part so well. She had all of us laughing. The sexiest costume award went to Linda Miller - wearing her cigarette girl costume (I think she bribed the judges with chocolate!!). Linda was our quick change artist for the night too. She started out as a flapper, then changed costumes to a cigarette girl, and later changed into a sexy cowgirl with bikini and chaps. The best costume of the night went to the swamp monster who came in and danced early with a walker.....he was awesome! I had no idea who he was until he kicked the walker away and started dancing....Gary, we would know your moves anywhere. (grinning)
.
They walked in the door - swamp monster, pumpkin head, witches, chefs, vampires, flappers, gansters, guys in zoot suits, Lady GaGa, Amy Winehouse, Black Eyed Peas, the 50's crowd, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf and more.
Those spirits had no idea what they were in for....a Spooktacular Halloween Night!
The hall was decorated for a frightful night....did you see the monsters, ghosts, rats, crows, and bugs?
One monster had a sign that said, "Dance til you drop....I'll be waaiting!!" I think some never made it back out those doors...we might hear their spirits calling for help at one of our dance classes. (grins)
Trick or Treat candy was spead on the tables and each had a glowing pumpkin or skull. The DJ light bar was covered in spider webs and the largest spider I have ever seen!
After a few warm up dances to some Halloween tunes, Pam taught us a fun new dance, The Kinser Influence. It was a hoot to see all the Halloween creatures filling the dance floor and adding those macarena moves.
It seemed like no time until the witchy hour had arrived and our ghosts and goblins all began to vanish.........tired feet, smiling faces and memories of a great Halloween night......we'll see you back next year!
The 1920's crowd....flappers, gangsters, fringes & zoot suits
